I love participating in artfight. This year I was a fossil!
Random person: So you make hundreds of drawings in one month????
Nope! This year I made 4.
Random person: Then why are you participating?
Because sharing art with friends its fun! Artfight it's all about gifting art and having fun with strangers and strangers alike. It's cool if you can make hundreds of attacks, or animations, or other cool stuff, but you don't have too. Many people only see these kind of scenarios and are afraid to participate. If you participate and only make one drawing and you have fun that is amazing.
Another fear I see is the fear you won't be able to return all the attacks.
It's not a requirement!
While it's nice to do it, you don't have to return attacks. And you don't have to feel guilty about it either. This is not a one on one art exchange. Rather than stressing about this one should rather draw what they want. Draw a character that belongs to a friend. Draw a character of an artist you admire. Draw something at random! Use this opportunity to create connection and have fun. Drawing other people ocs is also a great way to exercise drawing stuff that you might not normally draw.
Random person: I don't want to participate because no one wants to draw my ocs! Why should I draw for someone else?
I was lucky enough to get a couple (BEAUTIFUL) attacks from friends or friends of friends. But I did not participate expecting to get art. I entered to have fun, practice art and give a gift to somebody else.
Bottomline:
-be polite
-draw for fun
-don't treat artfight like a place to get free art.
This year event is nearly over, but I had fun regardless. And I really hope people enjoyed the art they received as much as I loved the art I received.
